National Symposium:
Quest for Truth: A Spectrum of Certitude
The
philosophy department of Paurasthya Vidyapitham organised a two-day national
symposium titled, “Quest for Truth: A Spectrum of Certitude”, on 17 and
18 of January 2019. Rt. Rev. Dr. James
Anaparambil, Coadjutor Bishop of Diocese of Alleppey, inaugurated the symposium
and Dr. Felix Wilfred delivered the keynote address. Ten papers were presented on these two days:
‘Hermeneutics and the Quest for Truth’ by Dr. Martin Kallungal, ‘certitude in
Philosophical Sciences’ by Dr. Vincent Sekhar S.J., ‘Certitude in Contemporary
Politics’ by Dr. Pius Malekandathil, ‘Certitude in Natural Sciences’ by Dr.
Kuruvilla Pandikattu S.J., ‘Certitude in Religious Sciences’ by Dr. Johnson J.
Puthenpurackal Ofm. Cap, ‘Truth and Silences of History in India’ by Dr.
Sebastian Vazhapilly S.J., ‘Certitude in Literature’ by Dr. Gigi Joseph,
‘Certitude in Media’ by Dr. Shivaprasad and ‘Certitude in Post-truth Era’ by
Dr. Sooraj Pittapillil. On 18 January before the concluding session there was a
group discussion and presentation of reports by the participants and a panel
discussion by Dr. Saju Chakkalackal CMI and Dr. Rose Mary. The concluding
session was presided by Rt. Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Bishop, Diocese of
Parasala. The symposium was coordinated by Dr. Anto Cheranthuruthy and Dr.
Sooraj Pittapillil.
